We know that where and how you give birth to your baby is a highly personal choice. We want to make you feel as comfortable as possible at The Kensington Wing. We are an integrated team, and our obstetricians and midwives work closely together to ensure you receive the highest level of care during your pregnancy and delivery, and after your baby is born.

CHOOSING YOUR MODEL OF CARE

We can offer you consultant-led or midwife-led care, and will support you in developing a personalised package for you and your baby.

One of the first decisions you will make is whether you would like to give birth to your child with the care and support of our midwives.

MIDWIFE-LED CARE

Or whether you would prefer to be looked after by one of our consultants.

CONSULTANT-LED CARE

Midwife-led care is generally advised for low-risk pregnancies. Of course, assistance from an obstetric consultant will always be available, no matter which option you choose.

WHEN THE TIME ARRIVES

When the time arrives for your baby to be born, you will be admitted to The Kensington Wing and meet the team of midwives on duty. If you are being cared for by our obstetricians, they will be notified to collaborate with your midwife during your labour.

We strongly believe in your right to choose the pain relief you would like, and provide dedicated on-site anaesthetic services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We support the use of complementary therapies alongside our wide range of conventional methods, and our knowledgeable midwives and obstetricians will be delighted to discuss these with you.
